I studied with George in high school transitioning into college for around three years and the experience he shared with me helped me reach greater heights in musicianship than I ever could have hoped for on my own. When I first heard about switching lesson teachers, I was a bit apprehensive. Im glad I gave it a go since Mr. Chase invites a mix of kindness, professionalism, calm demeanor whenever one meets him! During lessons, he keeps the tension low (such as telling jokes), but the experience with the music intense. He loves to hone in on details after one plays and reviews ones playing to help them in any way he can. Giving examples of how to perform techniques, such as breathing exercises or embouchure training, improved my endurance to play the more advanced pieces of music. One of the most dramatic changes in my trumpet playing was my sound. When I first met Mr. Chase, my sound was one of the weaker parts of my skillset. Once he and I really delved deep into the problem to figure out how to fix my sound quality, it became one of the strongest tools that I acquired. All in all, I felt that George was inspirational, one of the best student-teacher relationships I have ever had, and a fantastic person to study trumpet with!

I started playing trumpet in the 2nd grade. My parents realized that I needed some guidance to not sound like a dying elephant, which is where George comes in. He taught me starting a year after I started playing through late high school (around 8 years). Needless to say, I’ve spent a lot of time with him, and I’m truly grateful for that. George is a great mentor and a big reason why I’ve stuck with the trumpet, even after I’ve stopped seeing him. He’s patient, yet pushes you to be better; he has equal parts of dedication and humor. He is also very organized and gave me things to practice before our next lesson (although I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t always work on them at home). He greatly improved my technique, sound, range, and more with his vast well of knowledge and experience, and with his help, I went to All-State Band for all four years of high school (with TPSMEA with a highest of 4th chair). Additionally, I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music, partly because he's given me the musical skills and appreciation to do so. I would highly recommend George if you want to start trumpet, improve your technique, or find the drive to pursue it seriously like I have.
